Halibut Rigging: Plastic Grub & Spreader Bar Setup

Halibut Rigging: Plastic Grub & Spreader Bar Setup

How to set up the Curly Tail Grub & Spreader Bar Rig

A jumbo rubber curly tail grub can be one of the best lures for Halibut, and we have a couple that are proven to catch Halibut. We tie a heavy duty leader with a single Gamakatsu Big River Bait Hook, push the grub up past they eye and attach it to one of our glow spreader bars. The spreader helps lift the grub off the bottom, and with a slow lift-and-fall action of the rod, that curly tail will work its magic and get you into Halibut.

We typically don't add bait to this setup, as it can limit the tail movement, but you can grab a bottle of scent to give it added attraction. We suggest Halibut mix, Herring, Sardine, Squid or Shrimp.Halibut Fishing Grub Glow Spreader Bar Setup
