Halibut Rigging: Plastic Grub & Spreader Bar Setup
A jumbo rubber curly tail grub can be one of the best lures for Halibut, and we have a couple that are proven to catch Halibut. We tie a heavy duty leader with a single Gamakatsu Big River Bait Hook, push the grub up past they eye and attach it to one of our glow spreader bars. The spreader helps lift the grub off the bottom, and with a slow lift-and-fall action of the rod, that curly tail will work its magic and get you into Halibut.

This is one of our more traditional Halibut fishing setups. It's popular both offshore, in the Strait of Juan de Fuca and inside Puget Sound. How to Setup a Dick Nite Drift Fishing Rig Drift fishing with a Dick Nite Spoon is a top producing setup on several local rivers for Coho and Pink Salmon. This is a staple technique on many of our best salmon rivers, like the Skagit River, Skykomish River, Snohomish River and Green River. It will undoubtedly work well in many situations elsewhere too! The trick is to cast straight across or slightly upriver of your position, allow yourself to feel the sinker tap bottom, and slowly retrieve line so your setup crawls downriver and across the bottom. If you do it right, the Dick Nite will give the perfect flutter that causes Coho and Pink Salmon to snap at it. It's a perfect technique when more traditional lures and techniques are too much for wary salmon. Dick Nite Drift Rig Gear List We have all the gear you need to rig this setup correctly.
