Exciting news for Washington’s 2024-25 Winter Steelhead season
Share
Steelhead fishing has been an age old pastime here in Washington, and the 2024/2025 winter season looks to have many of our favorite rivers open to fishing in the first time in years. Lately, the plight of Washington’s coastal wild steelhead has devastated our fishing opportunities. With many of our Olympic Peninsula and Grays Harbor rivers under the spawning escapement for years, our seasons have been truncated and major changes in gear and boat restrictions were implemented so that we could at least have a chance to get out steelhead fishing. This year’s winter steelhead run forecasts look to be much stronger, and therefore we once again have fishing opportunities opening back up on most Washington coastal rivers.
Start by checking out WDFW announces 2024-25 coastal steelhead regulations for the initial news release. WDFW will be posting emergency regulations soon, as the early December season opening is coming up fast, it's also a good idea to check back there before a trip, just in case there is any in-season management changes.
