Okuma SST 8'6" Medium Heavy Salmon Spin Combo
This combo is a great setup for so many of our salmon fisheries! Perfect for beach fishing Puget Sound salmon, universal salmon rod perfect for your next Alaska trip, target oversized Chinook, Chum and Coho in our local rivers... it's a one-size-fits all combo for Pacific Northwest rivers and beaches.
The Rod
We picked the Okuma SST 8'6" Medium Heavy, 2-piece, line rating 10-20 pound. It's a great choice if you're wanting something that can handle casting heavier gear like 1-2 ounce cannonballs in the river, or 1-2 ounce metal jigs from our saltwater beaches. The rod is still fairly lightweight and easy to handle, but has the backbone and strength to target larger salmon like Chinook and Chum.
The Reel
Okuma Ceymar 4000 spinning reel has ample line capacity, a smooth retrieve and a reliable drag system. It's the perfect weight balance with the rod as well and feels like a natural fit!
The Line
P-Line CX Premium in low vis moss or high vis yellow is a copolymer with a thin diameter and our primary choice for spinning reels. If you prefer braid, we will spool your combo up with P-Line EndurX braid, in low vis monster green or high vis electric green, your choice!
