This is the perfect combo for pulling small plugs for steelhead. It's light enough to have fun with scrappy hatchery fish, but if you're out later in the season on the hunt for a trophy, it has the backbone to handle it. The great action in the tip lets you see every movement of your plug, so you always know it's working correctly. We're outfitting it with the Okuma SST rod in an 8'6" two-piece casting design, moderate-fast action, 8-17 pound rated, paired with the Okuma Coldwater 15 linecounter reel, the perfect compact size for steelhead fishing.
Rod & Reel: The carbon fiber grip fits comfortably in a rod holder for hands-off plugging, while the Coldwater 15 reel holds just the right amount of line without unnecessary bulk. Choose left or right-hand retrieve.
Line: Choose P-Line CX Premium 15 pound copolymer in high-vis yellow or moss green, or P-Line EndurX 30 pound braid for a more popular modern option.
