This is one of our favorite float fishing setups for river fishing, and a great all around combo for most species and situations you’ll encounter on the rivers of the Pacific Northwest.

The Rod

We picked the Okuma SST Medium action spinning rods, 2-piece rated 8-17 pound line. Choose the 9’6” for maximum versatility, it’s a better choice if you’re fishing small to medium sized river with a float, pick this one if you’re spending a lot of time on rivers like the Kalama, Wynoochee, Bogachiel, Skookumchuck. If you’re focused on larger rivers like the Cowlitz, Snohomish, Skykomish, Skagit you will be better suited if you pick the 10’6” rod choice.

The Reel

Okuma Ceymar 4000 spinning reel has ample line capacity, a smooth retrieve and a reliable drag system. It's the perfect weight balance with the rod as well and feels like a natural fit!

The Line

We will spool it up with P-Line EndurX braid, which is an optimal like choice for float fishing. It floats on the surface, so it’s easy to mend and control, giving you the chance to effectively control the float and presentation.
